How did you attract/address your audience?

i believe that our genre of film we are producing will attract a range of audiences even though it is aimed at ages 12+ i think our film could be open to all ages as it could interest a lot of people know matter their age, the way we have shown the characters as well people can relate to them in the way that they mite be able to relate to them or have an understanding of how you would normally see them, the characters are not exaggerated as well they are your ordinary teenagers who all have their own personalities which makes each of them unique, the audience will be able to connect with each character as they are able to learn more about them, the way that the footage is to be shown bright and colorful as the characters walk around you are able to also get a feeling that it will be a bright film that wouldn't contain any depressing parts as each scene contains bright weather, you are just able to establish this is a younger film that girls can watch and be influenced by how the girls are or could act which they could go on to become like in a sense with their personality. our film could also relate to a girls issue that they could be having at school and could relate to the film becoming more interested into how the films presses it and puting that knowledge t into a real life experience.

Who would be the audience for your media product?

Our target audiences are aged between 12+, and gender female. They are our target audience because its a chick-flick, and has been created for girls as a comedic, realism of types of people, especially female. Boys could also be interested in watching our film but we wanted to base it towards the girls as it was mostly aimed towards the girls in the way that they can possible relate towards the friends group or just the particular social groups that you would see around school or even interested into how the girl are friends with there all unique stories and personalities that have towards each other as well as other people.

Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

whiles creating my preliminary task i wasent fulley able to learn how to eddit to the extent of making it look a profecinal film, i was not able to structure my perlimenary the same as i did for my final, for m final i was able to create a script as well as a story bored which we where able to look at as we film of piece for media, for my perlimanrly it wasnet as struktured as my final as well as wasent to shown to be a professional standard of work. From the time i have had to create my perlimanry to creating my final piece i was able to learn a range of teqneques with the camara as well as editting skils that i was able to use whiles creating our 2 minute media film opening, being that i have learnt the new skills i was able to put them to use whiles filming i learnt that having a tripod was able to keep the camara steady so that i was able to film in a more clearer motion, i was also able to realize the effect that having props or items in our film that where irrelevant to the final piece it could have an effect on how you see the footage so i was able to remove any object that where irrelevant befor hand.

What have you learnt about technologies from the process ofconstructing this product?

whilst creating our media pice i was able to learn the editing side of the process where i was able to learn how to use Adobe premier pro to both edit our 2 minute beginning of our film as well as placing the effect on the film that where essential to showing how genoa is established. while filming i was also able to gain more of an insight into how to frame a shot so that any inappropriate element share to to be shown within our filming area for example a prop that may be irrelevant to our film or didn't suit the tone of mood the begging of the film was aiming to be. while working on our film i was able to learn about the blog, how i had to upload and post pictures, this was all relevant to our film making as i was able to learn how to upload it all to a internet source. our sound track that was chosen had a beat to it that was what we where looking for in or film opening so we used it, we where able to learn to making it parallel to our footage that was shown so that it fitted to the right tone of at the right time.

Evaluation - What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

My group have decided to choose Universal  Pictures as our distributor. We have chosen this because Universal Pictures are an American film company who are popular for distributing large budget films. They are also known for they’re influence on British cinema and partnership between Universal Vivendi and Working Title, to form a synergy. Overall They have produced box office hits like: 'Bridget Jones’ Dairy‘ and 'Bridesmaids' . We have aimed to achieved this level of quality in the film opening we have created by using the best quality equipment that were available to us with little to no budget. and with both independent companies joining together, viral advertisement is important, due to little to no budget.

Evaluation - in what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

We wanted to show our film opening similar to the film St Tinian's. Because, that chick-flick, comedy, has the same target audience’s as what we were going to apply ourselves for.  similar because of the stereotypes, just like St Tinian's, and its different, because its just the four of us. and its not into separate social groups, but just stereotypes. The shot types we have chosen to do, are often designed in order for the audience to follow the film through the eyes of the main characters. Typical chick flick shot types includes two shots to show personal relationships between characters, Close up to get the detail and the emotion on there faces, And tilts, common when you have an attractive character on there, so the audience can be the eyes of the camera. And it also has a wide shot of the whole group, in this case, the four of us. this allows the viewer to see all of the characters, for there convection's and mise en scene. We aimed to uses as many of these shot types as possible in order to make the genre of our film opening clear.

With most Chick-flick, the age range is 12A, just for the fact that it is opened to a more widened audiences, films like, St Trinians, Wild Child and John tucker must die.

Evaluation - How does your media product represent particular social groups?

We, as a group, chose to do different types of stereotypes, which is clear from the beginning, where we have used our mise en scene, and has took four different types of teenagers, and became it. Our make-up and costume suits with our stereotype, and our different social groups. we have the Goth, which is dressed in black, with heavy make-up. The nerd, which is dressed in tucked in clothes, glasses and books. The Chav, which is dressed in loose clothes, hair up to the side and is shown to be a rebel, by taking some guys hat, and runs away with it. And the Posh Totty, dressed nicely, short everything, with the flirty quality.
I think that having the right costume, make-up and props are a necessary towards describing what social groups they are in. By this, we can then locate what type of social group, or stereotype they are under.
Through-out the film, it is shown how the mise en scene, points out what type of group they both fit in, but it is both realized at the end that they are friends.

Evaluation - How does your media product represent gender?

Our product represents gender by using different stereotypes, which both represents different emotions and qualities for each girl in our group. And with our main four characters, all being girls, and the editing techniques done with pink text, and pink colours, shows that its a feminism colour and a connotation of girly.

Also, we have represented gender by producing a chick-flick, with the costumes meeting the stereotype standard, with; Goth, Nerd, Chav and Posh totty.

with the Opening credits, shows the connotation of the girl element, with the text and how it has been edited onto the sketchbook/diary.  This techniques goes through the whole 2 minutes, by introducing the characters, both with the same kind of colour, relating to the gender of the four main characters.

certification

The certificate for the film will be 12A because of our genre and target audience age we don't need the certificate to be any higher. Most chick flicks like 'Wild Child' and 'John Tucker Must Die' are both 12A's. Films that are genre's like action and horror have older target audiences so we would like all of the people we aim our film at to be able to watch it. By the certificate being so low it also means that more people in general will be able to enjoy the film.

Opening Scene: the book opening

For the first seconds of our opening, we are going to have an over the shoulder shot of a girl, preferably jade, so it suits the voice overs when we start to film, going  through a A3 black and pink sketch book with images of the main characters and the opening credits. Much like the opening for St Trinians but it will not be animation. In these pictures, we have asked a model to sit holding an A3 sketch book which is the same size, shape and colour as the one we shall be using. This experiments the different angles we can shoot in, and which one has the greatest effect, and suits the film.
So we filmed the model flicking the pages, and next i will show you how we did.

Sound and Music - Suchy la

For our film opening, my group and I need a up-beat and light song- ideally a British artist with female vocals. Our group are also considering having a narrator speaking over the music about 30 seconds in to the opening. After our opening credits (scrap book scene).
This is suchy LA, a British artist, known for her song, Addicted. This song will be played in the 2 minute clips.

She was Born & raised in Bristol, UK, Suchy La has grown up in a city known for its diverse culture and vibrant music scene, home to groups such as Massive Attack, Roni Size,as well as a huge underground dance scene.

Things we need to make sure happens. Includes: characters, location, lighting, script ect.

-Lighting
With filming our two minute video we need to think about how the lighting will effect our video for example if we where using natural light from outside, we cannot do it if its dark one day, and light the next, so making sure we have filmed around the right time of day. the same goes for inside if we are where to be using a light source inside, the lighting will be changed if we where to move around. however, we are not filming inside, so we do not have the following problems or different types of lighting to look out for:

Background lighting
Cameo lighting
Fill light
Flood lighting
High-key lighting
Key Lighting
Lens flare
Low-key lighting
Mood lighting
Rembrandt lighting
Stage lighting
Soft lighting

-Settings
We have decided to do this in John Cabot Academy, a sixth form/secondary school surrounded by good scenery and building which will make it easier to understand that these girls are from that school.
around the area we are using the following locations on the premises:

Car Park
Outside of the school
School steps
Road
Around the boarder of school
Entrance way

-Characters:
We now have decided characters, names, props, costume, and script to play over the voice over. We have based all of these around the stereotypes each character has; Goth, Posh Totty, Nerd, Chav.
Following names, Characters, Costumes and Script over lines:

Goth: Bree (Played by Natasha Jade Stowell(me))
Dressed in all black, including black... shirt, heels, leggings, top, hair and make-up. I have a flesh hole, and smokes. to go with her edgy look.
acts with attitude and looks with dirty looks.
Voice over script for Bree (for editing)
GOTH: *Bree* a Kick ass teenager covered in black, who is as fiery as the smokes she breathes, The safe to say she’s not on the safe side.

Posh Totty: Britney (Played by Jade Delaney)
Dressed in short outfits; short skirt, heels, vest top, and a denim shirt. she has her extras, which are a few boys that walks past her, and this really says alot about her character, especially when these extras suit so well in the scene.
Voice over script for Britney (for editing)
Posh Totty: * Britney* the prettiest girl in school, she has everything she ever wanted and she can be easily distracted when… oh… well you get the drift.
(that ...pause was to suit the video already been filmed)

Nerd: Iris (Played by Parys Gardener)
dressed in a smart woolly vest, with a short skirt, and long socks and carries around alot of books as her prop. she barley wears any make-up, this suits the character in the way that they are smart enough to know they don't need make-up on there face.
Voice over script for Iris (for editing)
NERD: *Iris* the awkward one, the quiet one… yet the brainiest of them all, her IQ is as larger as her school work, which says alot when she has joined every after school club, including chess and maths club. so yes, shes unsociable yet surprisingly intelligent

Chav: Mercedes (Played by Connor Murray)
Dressed in Adidas track top, shorts, knee high football socks, with Gold hoop earrings, red lipstick and black trainers.

acts with attitude, and confidence.
Voice over script for Mercedes (for editing)
CHAV: *Mercedes* Her English is as bad as her attendance, she speaks like shes from a different planet, but all of us four together, aren’t so different after all.

Basic outline of new plot.
It begins with, Bree, smoking a cigarette in a mid-shot opening, stubbing out fag, as a tilt down, to a close up of Bree stubbing it out. it then cuts to Britney chatting up some boy, in a group shot, as another boy walks past, and Britney checks him out too, giving alot of detail on the characters so far. It then cuts to iris, falling over and dropping her books all over the floor, showing emotion, yet intelligence by touching her glasses. It the cuts to Mercedes stealing some guys hat and throwing it back in his face, which is when both Mercedes and Britney both meet up, and walk together, as do Iris and Bree, they soon collide, and when the get to the top of the stairs, we all laugh, showing that we are friends.

Location Shoot

LOCATION: John Cabot Academy
- A sixth form/secondary school, which is perfect for our shoot place, as there's students and extras we can use in our film.
-Scenery works well, and suits our theme of chick flick, and the stairs suits well and reminds me off the the St Trinians school walk, which is the kind of theme we were going for.
